SUMMARY:BUZZ: Open reading circle
DESCRIPTION:This Saturday we gather around an Open Reading Circle at Buens Bogcafé between 1.30 and 3.30 PM with texts curated by the artist of the current exhibition Kamilla Mez that thematize some of the theoretic work and thoughts that has inspired her work for BUZZ. For this reading circle\, Noah Holtegaard and Kamilla Mez will introduce to a row of extracts from the two texts: ‘A Cyborg Manifesto’ by Donna Haraway (1985) and Legacy Russel’s ‘Glitch Feminism: A Manifesto’ (2012) in order to contextualise Mez’ installation that draws lines between technology\, body\, and gender identities. \nDonna Haraway is a prominent scholar in the field of science and technology studies\, described in the early 1990’s as a “feminist and postmodernist” and has contributed substantially to the intersection of information technology and feminist theory. Legacy Russell writes about art\, gender\, race\, and technology\, particularly as they intersect with histories of cyber culture\, and writes about embodying error as a disruption to gender binary\, as a resistance to the normative. Haraway and Russell have a lot of similarities in their writings\, however\, Russell does have a more contemporary perspective on these topics considering her various minority positions by being a black queer femme. \nBUZZ is an experimental art and exhibition project where the traditional expectations regarding art exhibitions and art works are bent and challenged. The head of Noah Holtegaard is during the next three months transformed to an exhibition space that presents works of the artists Viggo Mattsson\, Kamilla Mez\, and Rikke Ehlers Nilsson. Buzz is supported by Aalborg Kommune.
